Usiminas new board of Directors
Usiminas CEO Sergio Leite has taken office for a new two-year term at the company's helm this Wednesday afternoon (05/16). The executive will continue the revitalization process that has put the company in the spotlight once again. In the first quarter of 2018, Usiminas registered its best result since 2010; between April and May, resumed the operation of “Ipatinga” Blast Furnace 1 and had the fourth upgrade of its credit score grated by the main international agencies of risk assessment in little less than a year. Also in 2017, the company had already started to operate two plants of Usiminas Mining and restarted hiring staff.
Túlio Chipoletti and Takahiro Mori were also reappointed, as Industrial Vice President and Corporate Planning Vice President, respectively, and Alberto Ono, a career officer at Usiminas, was appointed as Vice President of Finance and Investor Relations.
Commercial Vice-Presidency will be headed by Miguel Homes who, had served as “Ternium Colombia” General Director since 2012. Kohei Kimura will be in charge as Vice President of Technology and Quality; Mr. Kimura is a master in Metallurgy and has held several positions at Nippon Steel, where he has worked since 1985. Both were appointed by the controlling companies “Ternium” and “Nippon Steel”, according to the new shareholders' agreement signed in April, and will take office as soon as the procedures for regularization of their permanence in Brazil are concluded. Until then, Sergio Leite and Takahiro Mori will be responsible for the Commercial, Technology and Quality Vice-Presidencies, respectively.
