Instituto Usiminas

Social responsibility is a part of Usiminas DNA. Since 1993, with Instituto Usiminas, we have been carrying out activities that make a difference in people’s lives, directing our investments towards actions that promote access to culture, sports and citizenship in the cities where we are present. After all, we believe that the best way to promote relevant transformations for society is by investing in structuring actions.

Educational Initiatives

We promote education through principles such as autonomy, responsibility and solidarity. Therefore, the Colégio São Francisco Xavier (CSFX), a social arm established by Usiminas, encourages the formation of human beings and the construction of citizenship in accordance with ethics and respect for the common good.

Commitment to Health

When it comes to quality and commitment to health, Usiminas is a reference. Among our initiatives in this area, “Marcio Cunha” Hospital (HCM) and the Integrated Dentistry Center (COI) stand out. Furthermore, Usisaúde (Usiminas Health Insurance) offers medical-hospital assistance through an extensive service network.

Voluntary Work

Voluntary work is, above all, a commitment to building a better world. With this in mind, we carry out projects such as the V-Day, dedicated to providing volunteer services to needy institutions. Every year, we also promote Winter Clothing and Christmas Solidarity campaigns.

Environmental Initiatives

Here, innovation goes hand in hand with sustainability. With the “Plant a Life” project, for example, thousands of seedlings of native Atlantic Forest species have already been planted at the Cubatão Plant every time a son or daughter of our employees is born. In addition, the “Xerimbabo” project contributes to the promotion, conservation and environmental education of Brazilian children and young people in a cost-free manner.
